Objectives

It is clear that harm reduction strategies for injection users are urgently required in Kenya. The purpose of IDU week is

  1. To raise awareness on IDU harm reduction within the national and international context
  2. To identify opportunities to address IDU harm reduction within Kenya's legal, social and policy framework
  3. To share experiences on succesful intereventions responding to harm reduction
  4. To initiate a consensus building process with government leaders, religious leaders and other stakeholders

Participants will be devided into two groups for the following discussions:
  1. Identify the Policy, Social and Legal issues relating to the introduction of a harm reduction programme in Kenya
  2. Identify the practical and operational issues relating to the introduction of a harm reduction programme in Kenya
    Feedback session
