Isn't smokeless tobacco safer to use than cigarettes?

No. There is no safe form of tobacco. Smokeless tobacco can cause mouth, cheek, throat, and stomach cancer. Smokeless tobacco users are 50 times more likely to get oral cancer than non-users. Those smokeless tobacco users who don't develop some type of cancer are still likely to have signs of use, like stained teeth, bad breath, and mouth sores.

Isn't smoking sexy?

Only if you think bad breath, smelly hair, yellow fingers, and coughing are sexy. Advertisements often portray smoking as glamorous and sophisticated, but think carefully about who created these ads and why.

Tobacco companies are right now very busy relocating to the third world countries since their own governments in their countries of the North and the West will not allow many of their shenanigans after beginning to fully realsise the adverse effects of tobacco on the health of their populations

What substances are contained in tobacco?

There about 4,000 substances in tobacco. Out of these some 400 are harmful to the human body. Forty of them cause cancer. The most addictive drug among these is nicotine which is the substance which creates the actuall addiction to smoking. Thus once hooked the smokers find themselves helpless and they then continue to flood their bodies with the other thousands of chemicals. These include poisons like arsenic, DDT, cyanide (which is used in gas chambers for executions) methanol and cancer causing agents.

How much is spent in Kenya by the health sector to treat tobacco diseases?

According to the National Tobacco Free Initiative, which is a task force of the Ministry of Health the health sector spends over 18 billion shillings treating diseases caused by tobacco. Yet the taxes from the sale of tobacco are less than one third of the annual health bill. But the tobacco industry only counts its profits and avoids resposibility and liability

How does tobacco growing in Kenya affect food security?

Tobacco farmers end up putting all their energy in growing the tobacco and tobacco is an extremely labour intensive crop. A lot of labour thus goes into tendering and curing (the heat and smoke treatment of the leaf) At the end of the day they do not have any time left or farmland left to grow edible crops and this in turn leads to malnutrition

How does tobacco growing affect the environment?

Tobacco not only causes soil degredation but leads to deforestation, as a result of felling trees used in tobacco curing.
