The article by Catherine Awuor (Satmag 17.05.03) titled 'Lost Childhood' was brilliant. I don't want to say anything more on it because with a very few words in a very small space, she managed to pin down a mega problem in our midst today.

So what I will add is that many parents think that by indulging their children's every whim, the children will think them cool, 'understand' them and tell them everything.

The truth is that you can never bridge the generation gap, and all such parents will end with is a messed child who will not be equopped socially to bring up well rounded children themselves.

By allowing our children to be exposed to all kinds of filth around us either on TV, the radio or pornographic magazines on our streets, and even in the entertainment venues we allow them so freely into, - all we will reap in the end is bitterness anguish and despair. This is a gaurantee whether you are in denial or not. Please let us start being good parents to our children - not buddies; we are too old for that!
