The goinghomedotcom Trust has produced over 200 newspaper and magazine articles which have appeared in all the leading newspapers and several magazines in Kenya as well as sitting for interviews with all of them on the subject of alcohol, alcoholism in particular other drug abuse and addiction as well as the relationship to increased HIV infection in general. For 95% of these articles we were not paid or were promised payment, which has not been received to date. We however felt that getting the information out was paramount and judging by the feedback we always received, the effort has been worth it.

The Trust has also had long-running columns in three newspapers, While numerous other magazines have carried articles from the Trust or interviews.

CHALLENGES:

1. In spite of copious evidence, to the contrary the mainstream media have still not seen the need for a column on alcohol, alcoholism and other drug abuse issues and to allow specialist writing on the same. Until such time that this occurs we are not taking full advantage of this extremely wide-reaching, cost-effective medium.
