RADIO
Radio is another far-reaching outreach tool that the goinghomedotcom Trust has continued to use and to date has produced a total of 65 Radio Programmes.
Of especial usefulness have always been the live programmes which feature viewer call in for this allows us to directly answer listeners concerns which not only help the caller, but also all the other listeners as well.
Radio has also allowed us to not only reach the listeners in English but also languages they might be more comfortable such as the National language Kiswahili and as of 2006 thanks to Royal Media Services several vernacular languages through their comprehensive vernacular bouquet. This is of utmost importance if the message is to get right down to the grassroots level and all too often, this is overlooked with most such programmes targeting radio stations broadcasting in English.
CHALLENGES:
- Getting enough airtime allocation for again there is a lot of denial by station managers on the extent of the problem.
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE:
- Sponsor airtime on a radio station with wide reach so that the goinghomedotcom Trust can have a weekly radio programme on issues pertaining to alcohol, alcoholism and other drug abuse.
- Sponsor Public Service Advertisements (PSA’s) on alcohol, alcoholism and other drug abuse. These would be produced by the goinghomedotcom Trust and aired regularly on various radio stations.
