The 40 minute video 'Nobody Kicks A Dead Dog' has been very well received and continues to be used in workshops for Training Of Trainers (TOTs) as well as various workshops on alcohol and drug abuse. Numerous teaching institutions (schools, polytechnics) country wide as well as individuals who have an afflicted family member or just want to educate themselves have also bought the video. At the same time many of the rehabilitation centers in Kenya have also obtained copies of the documentary and these are aired to their clients who are admitted.

Feedback from those who have watched the video has also been extremely positive with many saying that the video has really helped them put the problems they have been going through with loved ones in the correct context and has served to give them a perspective on the disease alcoholism hitherto denied them. Most have said they simply had no clue that alcoholism was a disease. This incidentally was one of the main aims of the production.

On the broadcasting front, Citizen TV was the first to air the production on Saturday 14th December 2002. Due to the many requests from the public who called the station it was again broadcast by Citizen TV on Saturday 19th. January 2003 during prime time viewing.

Once again feedback from this was fantastic as the viewers who saw the documentary were full of praise.

Efforts are being made to get other T.V stations to broadcast this documentary so that the public can benefit from its powerful message. Lack of sponsors to this end have so far hampered this effort. However we hope that some of the TV stations can take this up as part of their social responsibility programmes as this is a very important message and it belongs in the public domain where it was intended to reach and alleviate the suffering on tens of thousands of Kenyans who are afflicted or affected by the disease of alcoholism. To this end we once again take the opportunity to thank and congratulate Citizen T.V. for having ably taken up the gauntlet and ably joining in the campaign against alcohol-abuse and alcoholism and to help dispel the myriad myths surrounding the disease.

This documentary is the first in the Recovery Series and is produced by goinghomedotcom Video Production Unit. This series deals with the problem of alcoholism and drug abuse.
