| Launch of 'Nobody Kicks A Dead Dog' Video on Alcoholism |

The video was launched at the French Cultural and Cooperation Center on the 21st. of August 2002 as an open day on drug abuse and rehabilitation awareness day. Several presentations were made by the directors of two rehabilitation centers namely Mr. Caleb Angira of Asumbi Treatment Center Ms. Teresa Ngigi of the Redhill Place, as well as a presentation on the effects of alcohol abuse by Dr. Peter Gaku a clinical pharmacist, who is also a NACADA consultant. This event was organised by goinghomedotcom and sponsored by the National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) with assistance also coming from the Director, French Cultural and Cooperation Center.
The guest of honour was the then Minister for Public Health Hon. Prof Sam K. Ongeri, EGH. M.P. Others were the P.S. Dr. Julius Meme. and the National Coordinator, National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (Nacada) Mr. Joseph Kaguthi, EGH.
The mini-workshop kicked of the full programme which was as follows. Arrival and registration of guest was at 2.00 p.m. followed at 2.10 pm by a presentation 'Consequences of drug abuse viz. alcohol' by Dr Peter Gaku. This was followed at 2.30 pm by the Disease Concept of Alcoholism by Ms. Teresa Ngigi, the Programme Director of the Redhill Place. At 2.50 pm Mr. Caleb Angira, Programme Director of Asumbi Treatment Center came in with his presentation 'Drug free treatment of chemical dependency: Asumbi MODEL.' Nobody Kicks A Dead Dog was then shown at 3.10 pm finishing at 3.50 pm when the producer of the documentary Mr. david Ogot gave his presentation entitled 'It is possible' At 4.00 pm it was then time for the National Coordinator Mr. Joseph Kaguthi to welcome the guest of honour
In a speech read on his behalf by assistant minister Abdi Kochalle, Hon. Ongeri said "we have gathered here to discuss about substance abuse and drug dependence. As you may be aware, drug dependence is a global public health problem with serious socio-economic consequences at individual, family, community, national and international levels."
